A LITTLE ABOUT - THE POWER IN YOU.
My name is Luiza, and I am one of the women in this project and I decided to create it precisely because the most discussed theme about gender violence is always about the violence itself, the abuser or how woman detects hen they are in this situation.
But people forget to look and listen to US as their own victims, and so we end up suffering a lot of violence by everyone around us Generating several consequences that end up being other violence that we suffer.
In addition to placing ourselves in a position completely opposite to what we survivors of violence have and carry within us, it is an immeasurable strength to overcome and reframe all the violence we suffer.
We: Nina, Denisia, Aline, Nicole and I Luiza decided to share our life stories in order to help transform a society.
This exhibition tells the story of 5 women, all Brazilian residents of New York City who have suffered different types of gender violence. In fact, I, Luiza, who created this project ended up going back to Brazil during a pandemic in the year 2020 and for these two reasons, it was produced and developed remotely .
By reading each story you will have a little more understanding about what gender violence is, how attitudes and people around silences and treat us.
Art has a transforming power and photography is here precisely to show both you and us as strong, capable and wonderful women who LIVE in us. Know what change begins with each of us from our daily attitudes as being unique living in society.
So we invite you to join this exhibition so significant for all of us women as a whole.
And for you WOMAN never forget:
THE POWER IS AND EXISTS IN YOU.
